Wagmo Insurance has a waiting period of 15 days in most states. For cancer treatments, the waiting period is 30 days. If you’re interested in the real nitty gritty details, please see our insurance disclosure here.
Please note that for some states we offer zero-day waiting periods, but selecting this option requires you to receive and send us medical records within 15 days of signing up.
A pre-existing condition is defined as any injury, congenital disorder, or illness that has been prominent and/or identified by a veterinarian prior to signing up for Wagmo Insurance or before the end of the waiting period.

Yes! Cancer treatment is covered under Wagmo Insurance. We try to help ease the issue while on the road to recovery.
Every Wagmo Insurance policy comes with an endorsement for cancer coverage. There is a waiting period of 30 days for cancer, so as long as there were no clinical signs of cancer before enrollment or during the waiting period, your coverage will apply just like it does for any other medical condition. Please note that all claims are subject to review as well as the incident limit specified in your policy.
Wagmo is reimbursement based, so you will not receive an insurance card for Wagmo Insurance. Simply pay your vet bill, submit an itemized receipt as a claim, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Wagmo Insurance does cover x-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, and other diagnostic tests for accidents and illnesses. Surgery and procedures that treat injuries or illness are covered as well!
Once you've signed up for your Wagmo Insurance, you are able to access your documents on your Wagmo dashboard. Depending on what state you live in, documents may be mailed to you as well. If you would like a policy mailed to your home, please reach out to our customer service team.
While we wholeheartedly support and recommend spaying / neutering your pet(s), we do not cover spaying or neutering under any Wagmo Insurance or Wagmo Wellness plan.
Honestly, it depends! If your pet is generally young and healthy, we highly recommend considering signing up for pet insurance. Even a set of x-rays will run you upwards of $300, so the peace of mind is worth it. To get a personalized recommendation based on your pet’s age, breed, and location take our quiz by clicking “Get Started” in the top right of this page.
If you would like to add pet insurance, log in to your account. In your main dashboard, scroll down to "Add an Insurance Plan" and then select "Add Now."
Unfortunately, it is not possible to pre-approve services in advance. Each claim is unique and requires a thorough review. When you submit a claim, our adjuster will carefully review the details provided, potentially including your pet's medical records, to determine coverage.
For example, your pet may receive an exam that is covered under Wellness. However, if an exam is conducted because you visited a vet for injury-related reasons, that exam may not be covered under Wellness. In this case, though, that exam may be covered under Insurance. If you have both Wellness and Insurance with Wagmo, the good news is you only need to submit a single claim and we’ll figure out what is Wellness related and what is Insurance related for you!
